We had another amazing week in Room 12! The students finished off their State Testing with great focus and attention to detail. You will receive the scores from their testing sometime in August; they will come in the mail. We wrapped up our literature study of By the Great Horn Spoon with much excitement. The students didn’t want to stop reading until we knew the conclusion! The Project Boards were returned and are amazing! On Friday we placed them out and noticed strong text features as we completed a walk through California’s history. These boards will be used to teach our Social Studies in the coming weeks.
If you have not already sent it in, we are in need of a baby picture of your child for a poetry project we are working on by tomorrow! You can send it to me in a zip-lock baggie if you would like for it to have a little more protection. Please make sure your child’s name is written on the back.
WE WILL BE SEEING A LOT OF EACH OTHER THIS WEEK WITH TWO BIG EVENTS PLANNED, OPEN HOUSE AND OUR 4TH GRADE PLAY!
This Tuesday Evening, May 22nd is Open House! You may come to school at any time between 6:30 and 8:00. The classroom will be open for your child to show you all of his/her amazing work!! The children have been looking forward to this evening as they get to be your tour guide. I highly encourage you to spend some time looking through some of the fifth grade classrooms as well to get your child excited about their curriculum next year.
This Thursday Evening, May 24th, is our play! “California Here We Come” will be coming your way! We will be performing the play with fourth graders from Mrs. Snyder’s class. We will hold a performance during the day for Manchester students and in the evening for our families. All children need to be “dressed and pressed” and in Room 8 or 12 by 6:10. All girls, regardless of their role in the play need to have their hair pulled away from their face, preferably in a braid. The students should know which room they are to report to. The play will start at 6:30.
Next week is also the Manchester Book Fair! Please be on the lookout for detailed information in your Monday Pack on how your child can be involved in the many contests that will be going on.
Project boards… The California Project Boards are amazing! You will be able to take a walk through the history of our state at Open House. The children will begin teaching the class about their era in California’s history in the coming weeks.
We have one final study trip that will require parent drivers! June 14th all fourth grade classes will be celebrating the end of the year at Oso de Oro Park from 10:00ish to 2:30. If you are available to drive, we would greatly appreciate your help. I realize the end of the school year gets busy, so I wanted to give you a heads up as you begin to fill in your calendar. Please feel free to text, call, or email at any time. I have quite a few parents texting me messages for their children throughout the day and it has greatly decreased the number of phone calls we receive from the office! If I receive your message and pass it along to your child I will send a quick text/email back to you. If you do not receive a response from me, please call the office and have them deliver the message to us. Thank you! Thank you,
